The LG 42LE5400 is my initial flat-screen tv, and i have solely had it for a few weeks currently. therefore there are the caveats.

But to my eye, it is a stunning machine -- with the ability on or off. i am the sort of one that desires the large TV in my front room to appear nice even when it's off; solely Samsung sets will match this LG within the appearance department. It's virtually impossibly skinny, and when powered off it's simply a cool-looking black panel sitting on my entertainment center.

Turned on, it's superb. i have never noticed any blurring whereas watching sports or action, the colours are nice, flesh tones seem like flesh, and therefore the blacks look over adequate. I did got to fiddle with the settings some out of the box -- turned the backlighting method down, for instance. But to me, the television's self-calibration system looks to figure nice.

The Internet apps are pretty smart, if to a small degree spare. The TV connects to Netflix, Vudu, YouTube and different web video using an Ethernet cable plugged into my wireless router. LG sells a separate wireless receiver that you just will plug into the tv to ditch the 10baseT. There are a bunch of Yahoo! ""widgets"" that do things like tell you the weather and check stock costs. they appear comparatively useless.

So: 5 stars, for now. that might modification reckoning on the television's durability; it is a new model, therefore it does not extremely have a diary.
